My Work
What I do:
I study how fast pulses of light interact with tiny bits of matter, and design sensors that can detect things more sensitively. Specifically, fast means nanoseconds to femtoseconds. Tiny means atoms, molecules, or nanoparticles. Things we detect are biomarkers of diseases or environmental contaminants.

Why me:
My work is unique because it is at the intersection of multiple classical fields such as quantum science, ultrafast optics, nanoscience, atomic and molecular physics, physical chemistry, and applied mathematics. I am an award-winning educator, I love engaging with youth, the lay public and making science accessible and fun to all.
Fun facts:
I am a dancer classically trained in the Indian dance form of Bharatanatyam. I also a trained vocalist in the Indian classical music tradition. I look for opportunities to combine my passions of art and science.
