Vess Stamenova is an Assistant Professor of Information Technology Management at the Ted Rogers School of Management, Toronto Metropolitan University, and an Adjunct Scientist at Women’s College Hospital. Her research examines how technology is used in the healthcare system, with a focus on clinical informatics (technology used in patient care), telemedicine, and a broad range of virtual care modalities—including video, phone, messaging, remote patient monitoring, and patient self-management apps. Vess is interested in understanding how the use of technology impacts patients and healthcare providers experience, patient outcomes, cost to the healthcare system, and access to care across various vulnerable patient populations, including immigrants. She uses mixed-methods research, including qualitative, quantitative and population-based health administrative studies. Her research ultimately feeds back into supporting organizational and policy decisions around the use of virtual care.
