Dr. Sarah Dermody (she/her) is an Associate Professor and Director of Clinical Training in the Department of Psychology at Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU). She earned her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology and Biological & Health Psychology at University of Pittsburgh in 2015. She completed an accredited clinical psychology residency and postdoctoral fellowship at Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH). Prior to her current appointment, she served as an Assistant Professor of Psychology at Oregon State University. Dr. Dermody’s work focuses on substance use and addiction across the lifespan. Key areas of her research include: * Identifying risk factors for alcohol and cigarette use and dependence from youth into adulthood. * Optimizing addiction interventions, especially in situations of co-occurring substance use. * Investigating how patterns of substance use and related harms vary by gender and sexual identity — with particular attention to health equity among sexual and gender minority populations.
