Position: Full Professor at Institute for Research in Immunology and Cancer
Organization: Université de Montréal
I obtained my Ph.D. in Molecular Biology from Université Toulouse III in 2001. Following postdoctoral training at the University of California, Berkeley, under the supervision of David G. Drubin, I joined François Payre’s team in 2005 to continue my training at Université de Toulouse. IRIC finally recruited me in 2008 as a Principal Investigator, Cellular Mechanisms of Morphogenesis Research Unit. Since September of 2017, I has also occupied the position of Director, Academic Affairs at IRIC.

What I do:
We focus on the framework of cells, and more specifically on their cytoskeleton. The latter’s remodeling participates not only in cell division and motility, but is also involved in tumor development and metastasis. We focus on the nature of the interactions between two networks of filaments: actin filaments and tubulin filaments, also called microtubules. We strive to understand how those two networks take part in reorganizing the cell cortex at various stages of the mitosis, as well as during cell migration. To do so, the group uses functional genomics, cell biology and high resolution microscopy techniques in order to observe, in real time, the molecular interactions that shape the cytoskeleton during those processes.
