Dr. Trushar Patel is an associate professor and Canada Research Chair in RNA in Protein Biophysics at the University of Lethbridge. His laboratory aims to understand how viruses infect humans. His research has far-reaching implications for therapeutics and public health. Dr. Patel has published 97 peer-reviewed articles in major international journals and 37 editorials/proceedings. Additionally, he actively engages in science advocacy, communication and policy activities. His significant recognitions include the New Investigator Award from the Canadian Society for Molecular Biosciences, the Young Investigator Award from the Biophysical Society of Canada, the University of Lethbridge Volunteer of the Year award, the University of Lethbridge Research award, and the Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee Medal. He is also a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Biology.
